MusicMatch —The next killer app !

Unbeknown to me, when I bought my MP3 player (20 Gig Archos Studio 20 - www.archos.com) it came with a piece of software that has changed the way I think and listen to music.
It is much more than just a great ripper software, it also has really cool features that allow you to create "custom" streaming radio station. You simply list a few of your favorite artists, and based on that info, it starts streaming music that you should like as well. The amazing thing is that it actually works -- And when you get a song you don't like, jsut press the FFWD button and it will go straight to the next track. Almost Audio on demand.

Updated Dec 17 2002: They just released a new version with artist on demand functionality. Now you just type the name of the artist, and it starts streaming music from that artist. So it is pretty much like having the worlds largest cd collection.... and it sounds great.

It's totally worth the dowload. Check out their site at www.musicmatch.com or just click here to download the demo.

This section of the site contains MP3's of my favorite music. These MP3's are all ripped from my original CD's at the highest quality setting. I'm certainly not enticing you to download it for yourselves, however this collection is clean and has no 'Half songs' like the ones you often get from KAZAA (morpheus with spyware) or Napster.

I don't really have one specific type of music that I like, however there are types of music that I can't stand. I'm not sure why anyone would care, but my blacklists includes:

  • Any of the current crop bubble gum, manufactured Pop. I can't believe teens to listen to that crap.
  • Most rap music sucks too, but I do have some exceptions to that rule.
  • And more than anything..... Natalie Merchant and any band she has been with.... GOD she's boring !
